Pop up Virus


Those pop ups may not be from a virus after all. More than likely you have some form of spyware that you picked up as a drive-by-download from a web site. A drive by download is software that basically tries to trick you into thinking it's asking your permission to install (or not) and no matter what you answer it installs anyway.

By disabling ActiveX in your browser you can prevent most spyware from loading on your computer. Programs such as SpywareBlaster are also a good way to "immunize" your computer against known spyware threats.

In order to remove the popup plague you'll need a spyware removal tool such as AdAware or SpyBot.
